Before Your First Cryotherapy
Whole body Cryo can be healing, to enjoy safely please adhere to the following: Remove contact lenses to avoid friction. All jewelry must be removed as the metals can have a negative interaction with your skin. There can’t be perspiration or freshly washed hair due to the extreme cold temperatures (imagine freezer burn on your skin.) Menstruating persons cannot receive Whole Body Cryo.
Your First Cryo
During your first session, we suggest wearing metal free athletic clothing; no rings, necklaces, watches or earrings are allowed in the tank. There cannot be any perspiration on the skin or hair. We will provide you with wool socks and gloves to protect the extremities.
How It Works
Exposing the body to sub-zero temperatures promotes recovery since the cold causes the shrinking of blood vessels and capillaries in the body. The body, sensing extreme cold, acts to preserve itself through a survival mechanism of bringing blood into the body’s core to protect vital organs.
After a few minutes of cryotherapy, the cold sensation is gone and the heart pumps blood back into the rest of the body and the extremities (hands and feet). This oxygen and nutrient rich blood pumps back into areas that the body thinks are damaged and in need of repair, supplying a “boost” to damaged and normally functioning parts of the body.
